The Boxcar Children and Winnie the Pooh
This is the inaugural year for the Homeschool Performing Arts Club, Inc. The group is a non-profit organization comprised of twenty-four homeschooled children, ages 5-16, from the Fond du Lac area. The children of the Homeschool Performing Arts Club have been working together for 6 months. From September to December, the children worked on their acting skills and learning theater terminology with the group’s theater director, Mary Ritzema, and parent volunteers. In October, they auditioned for parts in the group’s winter plays, The Boxcar Children and Winnie the Pooh. In the last six months, the children have been involved in all aspects of theater: painting the set, creating advertisements and artwork for the play, and finding and creating costumes for their parts in the plays. Now that the performances are right around the corner, the children are busy rehearsing.
On March 14 and 15, The Boxcar Children will perform first, followed by Winnie-the-Pooh. The group promises a fun-filled family event for all ages! Come and experience two heart-warming tales of family and friendship. The group’s performances of The Boxcar Children and Winnie the Pooh are on Friday, March 14 at 6:30 pm and Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 pm. All performances will be held at UW-Fond du Lac in the Prairie Theater, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac. Admission is $4.00 per person; those under 3 years of age will be admitted free. Tickets will be sold at the door.
