The Makaroff Youth Ballet will present its spring performance entitled “Interplay” on Friday, May 2 at the Appleton West Auditorium.  The MYB will collaborate with Appleton’s Renaissance School for the Arts, which will provide dancers, musicians and costume assistance.  Elementary and middle school students from throughout Appleton will attend a special afternoon performance and the groups will offer a 7:00 performance free to the public.

“It is very exciting for the dancers of MYB to collaborate with the students of the Renaissance School.  There is such amazing talent in both groups,” said Linda Drezdzon, MYB’s Executive Director.

“Interplay” will consist of five musical selections of different genre, which will all be choreographed for ballet. The musical selections include ragtime, jazz, folk, African drum and classical.

“This is a terrific collaborative experience for both MYB and RSA.  It will be an exciting day for the audiences, both young and old,” said MYB Artistic Director, Jeanette Makaroff.

“The teachers and students at the Renaissance School for the Arts are honored to have the opportunity to work with the gifted Jeanette Makaroff and her exceptionally accomplished dancers.  This partnership has provided our young artists with unique challenges inspiring an outburst of creative energy that should translate into a remarkable performance indeed,” RSA Principal Michael Pekarske said.

Makaroff Youth Ballet is a non-profit youth ballet company that offers young, advanced dancers educational and pre-professional performance opportunities
