HANCOCK, MI – From April 21 to May 22, 2008, an exhibit of the artwork of the 23 graduating seniors of the Finlandia University International School of Art & Design is featured at the Finlandia University Gallery and the Reflection Gallery at Finlandia’s Portage Campus.
Two receptions for the artists will take place Saturday evening, April 26. The receptions are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
At 6:45 p.m., Saturday, April 26, a reception for the artists whose work is featured at the Finlandia University Gallery will take place at that gallery.
At 8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, a reception for the artists whose work is featured at the Reflection Gallery will take place at Finlandia’s Portage Campus.
The exhibited “diploma works” represent the final body of student work for each graduate. This year’s class of 23 is the largest-ever class of Finlandia bachelor of fine arts (BFA) graduates. Included are intensive research projects, series of individual artworks, design prototypes, and work in various other traditional and non-traditional mediums.
The Finlandia University Gallery is in the Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock. The Reflection Gallery is on the second level Finlandia’s Portage Campus at 200 Michigan Street, Hancock.
Finlandia University Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:30 to 7:00 pm, or by appointment. Finlandia’s Portage Campus is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
