The Fox Valley Humane Association is proud to announce its 29th annual Bark in the Park fundraiser, themed “Indiana Bones and the Raiders of the Lost BARK”.  The event-which is open to all dogs and their families-will include tons of fun contests and raffles!  Bark in the Park is presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and will be held at the Thrivent for Lutherans Grounds (4321 Ballard Ave, Appleton).

Kicking off the event will be the fun-filled “Pet Parade” beginning at 9:45 AM.  During the Pet Parade, celebrity judges will be eyeing the pets to choose the best Indiana Bones costume, Best Indiana Bones co-star costume, Toughest Pet, Pet/Human look-alike, Best Kisser, Best Tail Wagger, Most Unusual Pet, Biggest Pet, Smallest Pet, and Oldest Pet.  These awards will be handed out after lunch at approximately 11:30 AM.

Other anticipated activities include a Balloon Raffle, Toy Raffle, Bobbing for Tennis Balls, and a Dog Bone Guess.  Bark in the Park will also conclude a community-wide scavenger hunt that will have humans searching for “treasure” days before the event.

Debbie Daanen Photography will provide souvenir photos of you adventurous four-footed walkers free of charge, courtesy of FVHA!

Those interested in participating can register can register online at www.firstgiving.com/foxvalleyhumane. You can also register during pre-registration days June 3 & 5 at Fox Valley Humane Association from noon – 7 PM, or on the day of the event from 8:30-9:30 AM.  The fee is $25 per adult; children under 13 are free with an adult.

Groups of five or more adults can register as a team.  All teams registered by May 10 will receive a team banner, reserved table for lunch, and personalized bandanas for all their doggy members.

Registration includes an “Indiana Bones and the Raiders of the Lost BARK” T-Shirt (while supplies last!), Goodie Bag, Two Paws Up gour-mutt dog treats, Continental Breakfast, Bandanas for FVHA animal alumni, and Lunch (featuring Hillshire Farm Bratwurst & Ball Park Franks prepared by Mad Dog & Merrill from WNAM 1280 AM)!  Registration forms can be found on FVHA’s website; www.foxvalleypets.org under “Bark in the Park”.

All participants are encouraged to gather pledges and fundraise for the event.  Prizes will be awarded to all individuals raising $500 or more, the top three pledge raisers, and the top fundraising team.  Any questions about this event can be answered by calling FVHA at 920-733-1717, or by visiting the website www.foxvalleypets.org.

Last year's Bark in the Park raised nearly $50,000 for the homeless animals of the Fox Valley.  All the money raised benefits the nearly 5,000 abused, abandoned, stray and surrendered animals cared for by Fox Valley Humane Association each year.
