Event registration and screening will consist of filling out a short medical history form, weight and height, waist circumference, pulse, and blood pressure checks, and having blood drawn for blood glucose and lipid panels. Event attendees should plan on the screening process taking 30-45 minutes, depending on the volume of participants. The screening process will be conducted on a first-come, first serve basis. Attendees are asked not to eat or drink anything other than water after 9 p.m. the night before the Heart Fair.
In addition, a representative from the Northeast Wisconsin Claudication Clinic will be on-hand to provide Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) pre-screenings for people suffering from intermittent leg pain or cramping, usually worsened by walking. Persons whose pre-screening reveals symptoms specific to PVD will be able to schedule a more in-depth PVD screening on a different date and time.
The cost for the Heart Fair screenings will once again be $10.00 per person. All test results will be mailed to each participant following the Heart Fair. Participants are asked to bring personal address labels to the Heart Fair to assist with registration and efficient mailing of test results.
