Dance the night away with the Lawrence University
jazz ensembles in “Dance to Beat Cancer,” a free,
outdoor community street dance and benefit concert for the American Cancer
Society. The concert will feature big-band
swing music performed by 60 student musicians from Lawrence Jazz Ensemble, Jazz
Band, and Jazz Workshop. Professor of
Jazz Studies Fred Sturm, who will conduct the concert, recently underwent
surgery at the Mayo Clinic in his own battle with cancer.
