American Masterpieces: Albert Zahn’s Birds Park

Event Description: American Masterpieces: Albert Zahn’s Birds Park. Celebrate the unique genius of art environment builder Albert Zahn, a woodcarver who transformed his handmade house into the resplendent “Birds Park” in Door County. Between about 1924 and 1950, Birds Park was covered inside and out with Zahn’s carved and painted bird forms, angels, and woodland creatures. Because of Birds Park’s size and fragility, it cannot accommodate large groups. A presentation on Zahn and his work will be hosted by the Peninsula Art School in nearby Fish Creek from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be a tour of a private collection of Zahn works in Egg Harbor. As fundraising event will offer a limited number of tours of Birds Park; tickets will be auctioned during the program at the Peninsula Art School. Five tours for up to four people each will be awarded for dates subsequent to this event.
