The RAINBOW HOUSE DOMESTICE ABUSE SERVICES, INC. is hosting a Birthday ' Candlelighting' Celebration on
Saturday, September 6th, 2008. The party will be held at Little River Country Club, N2235 Shore Drive, Marinette from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 each which will admit two people. Tickets are available at Angeli's locations in Marinette and Menominee, and by calling the Rainbow House ( 715-735-6656 ) for 'will call' tickets.
Champagne, light hors'd'oeuvres and birthday cake will be served to help celebrate the 26 years of continued services and prevention programs for the families served in Oconto, Marinette and Menominee counties. Members of all communities are invited to attend, along with educators, legal services, church members and other interested people.
The guest of honor for this event will be Jean Davidson, the granddaughter of Walter Davidson, one of the four founders of Harley Davidson. Jean chose NOT to work in the family business, but to dedicate her life to teaching children. Jean is an accomplished author, speaker and founder of the 'Yell and Tell' program which is presented in many school districts, as well as having worked with abused women in the State of Wisconsin. She will share her personal stories and losses in her life, while explaining her approach to observing a dangerous family situation and how to react and become proactive. Jean suffered the loss of her 4 year old grandson, Ryder, who died in and accident that could have been prevented if the child standing nearby would have known how to react.
It is hoped that many professional people, teachers, and all community members who work with families and children will be able to attend . All other interested family, friends, co-workers and community people are also encouraged to attend .
If further information is needed for either event, please contact Julie Kaye, Executive Director. ( 715-735-6656 )
