SEEDs for De Pere Study Circle
The Natural Step
The Natural Step is a successful model for sustainable development that challenges us to balance ecological, economic and social well being while avoiding unintended consequences. One of the key features of The Natural Step is the Study Circle. In a study circle, small groups of citizens gather to study The Natural Step and how it can impact local practices and projects.
As a result, these individuals can further reduce their own ecological footprints and provide ideas and inspiration for local government, commerce and institutions.
SEEDs for De Pere, a citizens’ organization, is composed of individuals, teachers, business leaders, elected officials, and government employees concerned about our legacy to future generations. SEEDs promotes ecological integrity, economic prosperity, and social equity by educating local neighbors about practices that undermine our community's health and encouraging them to make sustainable choices.
SEEDs will host a Study Circle focused around the book, The Natural Step for Communities – How Cities and Towns can Change to Sustainable Practice (Sarah James and Torbjorn Lahti, c.2004), at the Kress Family Branch of the Brown County Library, 333 N. Broadway, De Pere, from 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: June 2, 9, 16 and 30, 2009.
