HONOR FLIGHT PROGRAM OF THE FOX VALLEY – 1st Meeting
Tuesday, June 2nd 2009 @ 9:30 AM
Paper Valley Hotel & Conference Center
333 W College Avenue, Appleton WI 54911
Waupaca County Veteran Service Officer, Jon LiDonne, will be hosting a meeting of those having interest in information regarding an Honor Flight Program for the Fox Valley.
This program is a National effort to get as many WWII Veterans out to see their WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. as soon possible and at no cost to them. The Honor Flight Program is a one day event that will start with a flight out of the Outagamie County Airport going to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial and other sites of interest and then return to a welcoming crowd.
Waupaca County Veteran Service Officer, Jon LiDonne, has initiated this meeting as he is confident of the need for a hub in the Fox Valley area due to the large number of WWII Veterans from Green Bay, Appleton and surrounding areas. Wisconsin currently has hubs operated out of Milwaukee, La Crosse and most recently, Madison.
This initial meeting will provide information to those interested in learning more about the program. It is also for those interested in taking the flight; willing to serve on the Board of Directors for the Fox Valley Honors Flight Program; volunteers of time/resources leading up to and including the day of the flight; or who are willing to be a self funded chaperone on a trip.
These flights are one of the biggest tributes we can pay to our World War II Veterans. A video of a flight out of Milwaukee will be shown for informational purposes. Please come and bring a friend to share in the information and excitement of this crucial endeavor. For more information, call: Jon LiDonne, (715) 258-6475 or email jlidon@co.waupaca.wi.us
