Native American Artists bring spirit beings to the forefront
Native American artists portray water as beings, trees as beings, and bears as beings. Witness this revelation at the 3rd Annual Woodland Indian Art Show & Market, (WIASM) on July 2-4, 2009 at Radisson Hotel and Convention Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“Life itself is manifested by all earthly beings. Water is a being. A Tree is a being. A Bear is a being. We must remember these principles,” spoken with the wisdom Chief Seattle.
The Artists’ Reception will highlight this year’s theme – “Indigenous Culture: Honoring Those Around Us.” The WIASM is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 2 through Saturday, July 4, 2009. Hours for the market are Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The WIASM encourages creativity and establishes a standard of expertise and artisanship within all areas of Aboriginal art forms.
"Over time our people were told to set aside our Indigenous ways and learn to live in today’s society. Setting aside our Indigenous ways of culture is like removing the life giving sources from the tree of life," according to WIASM organizers.
We must always remember who we are as a people, in order to teach these principles to future generations. These ideas are brilliantly portrayed by Woodland Indian Artists.
