What is better than hearing a good, old-fashioned story? One that gives you chills and makes you look twice at the shadows creeping across the wall? Screams from the Attic, the first show of Attic Theatre’s 2009 season, will provide thrills for the whole family while reliving some classic tales. The show, which runs July 15 through 18 on the Lawrence University campus, is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Community First Credit Union.
Screams from the Attic brings the well-known tales of The Canterville Ghost and Rip Van Winkle to life with a cast of children and adults. The show will follow the format of old-time radio dramas, including early 20th century music, sound effects and original commercials.
According to director, Kristine Glenn, who also arranged the production, “The idea of doing an old-style radio drama was appealing and offered the opportunity for actors and audiences to have a unique theatrical experience.”
Screams from the Attic runs July 15, 16, and 17 at 7:00 pm and July 18 at 2:00 pm in Cloak Theatre at Lawrence University. Tickets are $6.00 and can be purchased at the Attic box office in the Lawrence Music and Drama Building from July 14 through 18, from noon to 6:00 pm, or by calling the Attic ticket office at 734-7887.
