The New Community Shelter will open its grounds for people from the community wanting to watch the fireworks in a family-friendly and alcohol-free environment. The shelter will open its property to the public at 7:00PM – there is no charge to watch the fireworks from shelter grounds. There will be hamburgers, brats, corn-on-the-cob root beer floats, nachos, soda and water. All items have family-friendly prices.
“The New Community Shelter benefits year-round from the generosity of this community, and since we have the room and a perfect view of the fireworks, we wanted to open our grounds to the public, and make it festive and affordable to families” said Terri Refsguard, Executive Director. “All we ask is that people respect our no alcohol policy.”
The New Community Shelter, located at 301 Mather Street, offers emergency housing adults experiencing homelessness. In addition, the shelter has a Transitional Living Program and a Community Meal Program where anyone in the community can get an evening meal 365-days-a-year, as well as lunch every weekend and holiday.
