An Evening With Laurel and Hardy
On November 10th, Tuesday at 7pm The Packerland Theatre Organ Society will present “An Evening With Laurel and Hardy”, at the fully restored movie palace, the Meyer Theater in downtown Green Bay, WI, with its historical Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ.. During the 1920’s Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were paired up by Hal Roach to make short silent comedy films, covering all sorts of subjects and situations. Four examples of these films will be shown, uncut. Frank Rippl and Tom McNeely will be doing live musical accompaniment on the Wurlitzer to these rarely seen silent films. Tickets are available through Ticket Star by calling 800-895-0071 $5.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door evening of the show.
The Packerland Theatre Organ Society is a non profit 501(c) 3 educational organization dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the Voice of the Silent Movie ( The Theatre Organ) and is a chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society.
Its goals include promoting the theater organ, involving school age students through workshops, offering a scholarship to organ majors in college, silent movie presentations, produce concerts involving the theater organ and offer social gatherings to play and listen to theater organ music. Packerland (PTOS) will pursue acquiring its own theater pipe organ and an accessible location to showcase the instrument and make it available for practice and meetings of its members.
