Classic music is “young” and “live” in the Fox Valley!  Welcome to the 40th season of the Oshkosh Youth Symphony Orchestra (OYSO) as they kick off the concert season with their annual Fall Concert, Monday evening November 9, 2009 in the UW-O Music Hall at the Arts & Communication Building beginning at 8:00 pm.  Established in 1969, OYSO is entering its 23rd year under the masterful direction of Mrs. Geraldine Grine.

Philharmonia, which consists of young musicians working their way up to the level of performance required of OYSO musicians, will kick-off their 3rd concert season with a performance prior to OYSO at 7:15 pm in the UW-O Music Hall at the Arts & Communication Building.  Philharmonia is co-conducted by Ms. Yukiko Grine and Mr. Timmothy Lyons.

With nearly 100 elite musicians, OYSO and Philharmonia musicians represent middle and high schools throughout the area including Oshkosh, Ripon, Menasha, Shiocton, Slinger, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Omro, Neenah, Berlin, Winneconne, and as far as Sun Prairie.  Primary support for these two orchestras comes from the Water City Chamber Orchestra.

Both concerts are free to the public.  Free parking is also available in lots 4, 11 and 27 off of Vine, Elmwood, Woodland and High Avenues on the west end of the UW-O Campus.  For more information on either concert, please call the Water City Chamber Orchestra office at 920.233.7510 or visit the web site at www.youth.oshkoshsymphony.org.
