While I sat and watch the official retirement air-time report, I thought to myself...this man, this person wants to leave and head into a new direction. As I listened to him, repeat certain phrases, I got the feeling that he was STILL trying to totally convince himself. I bet his wife had a HUGE impact on his decision. She's probably tired of the traveling, the moving from one home to the other. I think Favre wants to head into a different part of his life, but he just seemed reluctant.
He's going to MISS THE GAME this fall. That's when it will hit him in the gut and that's when he'll stop telling everyone, "I just don't miss it!" I'm not a HUGE football fan, but I was interested in how G.B. fans and area Wis. fans would react. My daughter said, "Good bye, finally he's outta here."
But then some of her friends were absolutely TORN, especially a young boy from Mississippi. He cried and said that Favre was his hometown hero and he was the greatest ever. My daughter tried to console her friend from Mississippi.
Perhaps we need to move on now and look to supporting Aaron Rodgers and the REST of the Packer team. Favre was one person of many on that team. Let's move on now and appreciate what Favre did for the team. I bet he'll be the only one regretting his decision come next fall...while the VERY DEDICATED PACKER FANS cheer for the 2008-2009 team. We need to UNITE and get our team to the Super Bowl.
